Considerations
Almost universally, unambitious.
It's important to venture from just looking at graphic design alone.
Need to show an understanding which goes further than the immediate design related contexts and looking at academic books (textbooks) about the relevant wider contexts of your subject.
These could be:
Consumerism, consumer psychology, market research, digital media,
subcultures, etc.
Read academic literature then you will naturally become a better academic writer. If you focus only on literature about graphic design by graphic designers you will develop only a very restricted view of your subject.
Possible avenues to explore:
Ethical design
- A question of health and lifestyle, Perceptions, effects and influence visually perpetuated within the current consumerist climate
- Idea 1 (title variation): Looking at health/Ethical consumerism: To what extent does design influence consumerist behaviours?
- How can health issues be made aware of within design?
- Can ethical consumerism be implemented into society
Consumerist behavior
• To what extent does aesthetics, affect well being in different aspects of daily life?
• Design for sustainable practice and behaviour
• How is design challenging the idea of a healthy lifestyle
• To what extent is the opportunity possible for individual dietary choice within modern society.
• To what extent does design impact well-being
• What is ethical within design?
• Should designers have a code of ethics within their practice?
• Could consumerist ideals benefit from ethics being considered more thoroughly?
• How is consumerist behaviour influenced by ethics
• To what extent is designed influential within certain product and the perceptions (including health
• Is anything marketable (how influenced are we by design of product)
Politics
• What role does graphic design play in changing culture?
• To what extent does political visual content affect the way in which we interact with politics
Technology
• How will technology affect graphic design?
